Solar Eclipse special breakfast on Grand Mercure Hongqiao Hotel roof

July 22 2009, Shanghai – Grand Mercure Hongqiao Shanghai Hotel organized a special breakfast on its roof for the guests to witness a total solar eclipse on July 22nd 2009, which was regarded as the most spectacular astronomical phenomenon to China in the 21^st Century.

The event was started from 8:30am on the roof of the hotel building. About 30 guests participated and were still waiting for the moment of the eclipse despite of the thick clouds and overnight rains.

Gradually, the sky turned to grey, dark grey and totally dark. Several minutes later, the sky returned to brightness again. All attendants were very excited to witness the mystique of the solar eclipse, and hope that some other astronomical phenomenon would appear in the near future.
